Vietnam - A country of world heritages and natural wonders

Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary - One of the world heritage sites of Vietnam

The humble number of seven world heritages officially recognized by UNESCO seems to be incompatible to that of several countries in Asia such as China, Japan or Korea, but for a country with the size of Vietnam, it is unparallel. In fact, Vietnam possesses the largest number of world heritages in Southeast Asia. Five of these places represent the rich historical and cultural heritage of the country: the Complex of Huế Monuments; the ancient town of Hoi An; My Son Sanctuary; Central Sector of the Imperial Citadels of Thang Long – Hanoi and Citadel of the Ho Dynasty in Thanh Hoa.

The other two World Heritages are quintessence of natural beauty in this S-shaped country that whenever the name Ha Long Bay is mentioned, people would immediately think of the a masterpiece of sculpture created by the hand of Mother Nature. Whereas, Phong Nha – Ke Ban National Park amaze tourists with its system of underground caves, located in the Nothern part of Central Vietnam.
